Messier

Messier time at church
We want kids to have fun being kids. We want kids to me messy, silly and everything that God created them to be at their age. We also want to present the truths of the bible in fun, relevant, and age appropriate ways. Living for Jesus isn't something kids will do or understand when they grow up it's something they do now!

What's the messiest, most fun you've ever had with your kids? What's the thing that's kept them talking days later?

Extreme Willingness

taken from the book "Extreme Devotions" by Voice of the Martyrs. It's a great book - recommend highly. True stories from all around the world. Check this out....

Philippines: A Young Girl
"My dress," the young girl murmured, her words slurred through swollen lips. "Please give me my dress, I want to hold it."
The Christians surrounding the girl's bed were sad. Because of her extensive internal injuries, doctors could do nothing for her. Weeks ago, the believers had bought her a white dress to celebrate her new life and pure heart in Christ Jesus.
Her father had not been pleased with his daughter's decision to follow Christ. One night, in a drunken rage, he attached his daughter, beating and kicking her. They found the girl unconscious, lying in a heap, her formerly snow white dress now covered in blood and mud. She was brought to a doctor, but her injuries were severe.
Now she was asking for her dress.
"The dress is ruined," her friends told her. They tried to talk her out of it, thinking that seeing the ruined dress would break down the girl's spirit.
With the simple faith of a ten-year-old, she whispered. "Please, I want to show the dress to Jesus. He was willing to bleed for me. I just want Jesus to know that I was willing to bleed for him."
Shortly afterwards, the young girl died.

God is not interested in our ability. We may be talented, resourceful, wealthy, professional, popular, and punctual offering our various abilities in God's service, however, it's nothing like offering our availability. Our abilities are about ourselves - we can see ourselves doing this or that for God. In contrast, our availability is about God alone - we can only imagine how God will use us in his service. Being available means being willing to obey no matter what the cost.

Are you available? Want to find out how to be more available to God? Let me know.

They had what?

Here's hoping you don't find one of these in your breakfast!

SCORPIONS
Scorpions are arachnids, and these nasty creatures are often found in deserts. they have large pincers and a curving stinger tail. God led the Israelites through the Sinai desert where they met - and were probably stung by - lots and lots of scorpions (Deuteronomy 8:15).
King Solomon was super-wise, but his son Rehoboam missed out in the brains department. In his first royal speech he promised the Israelites that if they let him be their king, he would whip and scourge them with scorpions. Wow! Who wrote that speech for him? Two-thirds of Isreal didn't want to be tortured and left this new scorpion king. (1 Kings 12:11-17). Surprise, surprise!
Now imagine dragging yourselft to the breakfast table and your dad asks what you want. You mumble, "Scrambled eggs." A few minutes later he scrapes a scorpion from the fraying pan into your plate. "Watch out for the tail," he says. "Eat that and it'll kill you. The rest of it tastes like cockroach." Unless your dad is truly weird, this little scene will never happen. God is good, and Jesus said that just like dads wouldn't give scorpions to their sons, if you ask God for good things and he won't give you bad stuff. (Luke 11:11-12)
When Jesus said that he gave his followers authority to trample on scorpions (Luke 10:18-20), je was talking about power over evil spirits, not actual scorpions. Jus thought we'd mention that in case you wanted to test this verse out on your next visit to the desert. Or, of course, if your dad tries the scorpion and eggs thing.

How "MEN" survived Bible Days

PUKING YOUR GUTS UP
Herod Agippa died because his guts got infested with intestinal roundworms, but he wan't the only guy to get those suckers. You could've ended up with them too! They were common back then. They still do their dirty work in countries where people don't have clean water or good sweage systems.
These worms can grow sixteen inches long, and they're like himongo straws sucking up the juices inside your bowels. Sometimes they get all twisted together in a clump and block up your intestines. This causes major pain, and suddently you're puking up worms, gagging, and puking some more (Acts 12:23)
